Mental eval for Mark James Sonnip/Wind River Homicide (Shyrone Brown) WY

This thread began with the UNSOLVED deaths of 3 girls on The Arapaho/Shoshone Indian Reservation/ Wind River, WY  has brought to light two more murders in 2009 that we know of.  (See blogs below)

In the cases of the three teenage girls:
Ohetica Win Elyxis Gardner, 13; Alexandria White Plume, 14; and Winter Rose Thomas, 15?
their deaths remain UNSOLVED after almost 1 1/2 years.  The FBI is mum on the cases and autopsies promised have not been released to the families.
Tim Giago recently brought the above cases to light recently (as per below blog article.  For that, we thank him.  These families need to know exactly what happened to their children!

The two other muders in 2009 are also blogged below.

In one case, an arrest has been made in the murder of Shyrone R. Brown, 19.  The man arrested in the crime is Mark James Sonnip, 20.

Now, Sonnip’s attorney has asked for a mental evaluation in the case, and a trial that was to be scheduled for September 28, 2009, will likely be rescheduled according to the following article.  Sonnip is alledgedly "insane"?

Mental evaluation requested for murder defendant

Associated Press – September 17, 2009 12:05 PM ET

FORT WASHAKIE, Wyo. (AP) – Attorneys for an Ethete man charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Shyrone R. Brown have asked a federal judge to order a mental evaluation.

Federal public defender David B. Weiss says 20-year-old Mark James Sonnip was insane at the time Brown was killed on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Conder says he has no objection to the request.

Sonnip is set to stand trial on Sept. 28, but if the request for a mental examination is approved the trial will likely be rescheduled. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

Sonnip is accused of killing Brown by dropping a large rock on him, by kicking and stomping him and by cutting his throat with a broken glass bottle. Brown’s body was found in a Fort Washakie home on July 6.

On a blog space Shyrone Brown’s sister says:

"Nothing much just getting over bout my Bro Shyrone Brown cant belive it!!!!!1 😦 my brothers were called home and his name is Shyrone Brown ~R.i.P~ but
…" (Link removed for the Protection of these very young children with blogs)

(It seems these children are very vulnerable and this 13 YEAR-OLD blogger says she’s happiest when "Getting High, Partying, and riding horses"…

On another blogspot there are TWO more deaths as well as Shyrone Brown’s death.

June 1, 2008: (a young lady with a promising future (name not posted here) died in a vehicle accident at age 17.  Same funeral Home in Riverton, WY as some of the 5 others previously reported below in blogs here. Her mother was already deceased. Young deaths… Another male name of which no info found will also not be reposted here as these deaths may or may not have something to do with the other Wind River deaths & Homicides.

It appears that there is a computer "network" (and school) which connects these children in some way to one another.  Surely the FBI and Wind River Police have "looked into" any possible connections of drugs, and homicides?  We will reserve any further comments on this issue until they can be substantiated.  Having just seen a "glimpse" into the blogspots of the young people who knew some of the victims, it sure is a sad state of affairs there at Wind River Indian Reservation.

Sorry to group the "mental health" eval for the alledged murderer, Mark James Sonnip, 20, of Ethete, Wyoming in with the blog info, but that is where the "trail" led…

If this gets the attention of someone, then the job here is at least considered begun… Good or "bad"…

All comments welcomed here.

(Do their parents know what their children are doing on the computer and with drugs and partying? I sure don’t want any more young people killed on Wind River Reservation or anywhere else for that matter… 13 yrs. old… Hip Hop music, partying, drugs… Very sad and dangerous in our opinion.)

Something needs to be done to provide these children with more activities and Traditional Ways to elevate them from this horrible crime-ridden reservation life and death. before more become "Insane"…

Each and every case you have mentioned are seperate issues and are only connected by being Native and our Reservation. We are a population, just like any other. We have have crime, just like any other city but, because we are located within a reservation, what happens here become idle foddle to those who want to speculate on our tradgies. I thank you for bringing attention to these cases, and I hope that it puts pressure on those investigating these crimes. Just like anyone else in the world, justice doesn’t always work the way its suppose to and not every crime will be solved. I pray these families find hope and peace, to move on and live on, and carry their loved ones’ memory with them, and think of them in a happier light when they lived, than of how they died.

  2. Have you ever considered writing an e-book or guest authoring on other sites?
I have a blog based upon on the same topics you discuss and would love
to have you share some stories/information. I know my visitors would value
your work. If you’re even remotely interested, feel free to send me an email.

I don’t know who you are, and am always ‘wary’ about others, due to the nature of these cases, and the FACT that these here on THIS blog, are ‘walking criminals’! However, share your blog site address, and we shall see, ok?
